On December 10th, we gathered for an engaging meeting focused on the increasingly popular technique of winter sowing. For those unfamiliar, winter sowing is a method that allows seeds to germinate naturally during the cold months, taking advantage of the winter weather to mimic their natural outdoor conditions.

Our session was packed with valuable insights and hands-on activities, where we explored the science behind why certain seeds benefit from this method. Attendees learned how to create effective sowing containers from everyday household items—think plastic jugs, containers, and even egg cartons!—which not only promotes sustainability but also helps cultivate plants in a cost-effective way.

If you’re looking for ways to extend your gardening passion into winter, we highly recommend giving winter sowing a try!
