SUMMARY:Common Read: Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult - Sessions on Mondays 10/18\, 11/22\, 12/13\, and 1/10 6:30-7:45pm
DESCRIPTION:As CUSH’s Racial Equity Task Force kicks off the multi-part program Addressing Our Bias and Embracing Our Diversity program\, join the Common Read\, which is the first entry point of this program.  Through this novel\, we will address bias\, racism\, and privilege through this 2016 NYTimes best seller. \nSmall Great Things tells the story of an African American labor and delivery nurse and the racism surrounding her care of a white supremacist couple’s newborn son.  (See interview with Jodi Picoult below.) \nReading is divided into manageable monthly chunks as we prepare for important conversations about this book\, our community\, and ourselves.  Through book discussions\, we will address how bias plays a role in our everyday lives.  Our goal is to come together in conversation and self discovery to help grow a more equitable community here in Kenosha.  We are all a work in progress\, and this program is an opportunity for us to progress together. \nOur Common Read is led by The Reverend Dr. Monica Cummings\, Assistant Minister of Bradford UU Community Church in Kenosha and of the CUSH Religious Leaders Caucus. \nREGISTER HERE\nVirtual Discussions on the following Mondays 6:30-7:45pm: \n10/18 – Section 1 (Approx. Pages 3-144) \n11/22 – Section 2 (Approx. Pages 147 – 346) – Note date change from original 11/15 date. \n12/13 – Sections 3 & 4 (Approx.
