The Prophets stood on street corners and in the royal courts\, speaking truth to power\, calling for justice\, compassion\,\nand mercy. In the last century\, Jews have been at the forefront of nearly every civil rights and social justice movement. \nRabbi Bonnie will present “Moving From Charity to Justice: A Workshop in Faithful Advocacy”\, a three-session workshop originally created for Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice (WFVJ). Rhonda Lindner\, interfaith organizer for the Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign\, a project of WFVJ\, will join us for sessions II and III. \nWhat: A three-part series of workshops to learn more about how to put the ideals and values of Tikkun olam (repairing the world)\, a foundational core tenant of Reform Judaism\, into action. These workshops will be presented by Rabbi Bonnie\, and will be hosted both in-person and over Zoom. \nWhen:\nSession I – Sunday\, March 9 [2:00pm-4:00pm]\n1. Introduce participants to the challenges and opportunities for congregational engagement in advocacy\n2. Explores the many forms of advocacy can take\n3. SUMMARY:"Take Up the Cross”  – A Call to Conscience
DESCRIPTION:People of all faiths and goodwill who seek to resist injustice with courage and compassion are invited to join us for a peaceful demonstration on Saturday\, August 2nd at 11:00am in Madison. Christians from across all traditions will gather at the intersection of State and Lake Streets in Madison to carry a large wooden cross to the Wisconsin State Capitol. The event\, titled “Take Up the Cross\,” is a peaceful\, public witness rooted in the call of Jesus: “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:38).\n\n\n\nThis symbolic act is a response to the rising cruelty of government policies that harm the poor\, marginalize communities\, endanger the environment\, and misuse Christian identity for political power. The action calls attention to the moral cost of Christian Nationalism\, unchecked militarism\, and the erosion of public compassion in our civic life.\n\n\n\nThe walk is ecumenical and inclusive\, bringing together clergy and laity from Episcopal\, Lutheran\, Methodist\, and Roman Catholic traditions\, with leadership experience in interfaith work\, theology\, education\, public service\, and criminal justice reform.\n\n\n\nThe event is open to people of all faiths and goodwill who seek to resist injustice with courage and compassion.\n\n\n\nIf your church or organization is interested in participating\, or to learn more about the event\, please contact Rev.
